Hardware

I support most every PC machine that is 1Ghz or above (Any Pentium computer made in the last five years) including laptops. That is P-IV or above.

I support most every Mac from G3, G4 or G5, including Intel) including laptops. This includes ALL iMacs.

I support all cable modems and DSL modems (and satellite) available in this area. I am an expert at home network set-up, both wired and wireless. I am proficient with all peripherals including printers, scanners, external drives, digital cameras and video.

I can diagnose, repair, locate parts, install cards, drives, interfaces, memory etc, including data recovery from bad hard drives. Either at your home or in my shop. If your box is worth fixing, I can fix it.

If I can't fix it, you don't Pay (except for pick-up/drop-off fees if applicable)

Software

PC operating systems starting from NT 4.0, Win2K, including WinXP Professional and I can even make Vista work now, can you?)
(You aren't honestly still running 98, are you? Well, we can fix that too)

Mac's obsolete operating system OS 9.2.2 but it's really time to get with it!
(Yes, I agree that change hurts, but X really is better, and just as much fun)

Macintosh System X starting from OSX 10.0.4 (that almost worked) thru 10.5.5, which isn't just a fix but is an honest to goodness new O.S. Bells, whistles, everything you want from a new O.S.

I can install, repair and upgrade operating systems and programs. I have a large library of shareware and demoware (programs that are 'try now-pay later' installations)

I specialize in inexpensive graphics and video programs for pictures and video. Though I am fully versed in PhotoShop and the rest of the Adobe Creative Studio including Premiere (video editing). But you might try U-Lead Studio which costs a fraction, and does 95% of the things you'll actually use.

Movie and web authoring through Macromedia MX Studio with the famous web programs Dreamweaver for website construction (like this one) and Premier for editing and digitalizing video. But if you're lucky or foresighted enough to have a Mac, you'll never use anything as intuitive and easy to use as iMovie coupled to iDVD and you are your own studio from original media to production on DVD with titles and professional transitions.

Text and Presentation through Microsoft Office, for professional looking documents and diagrams. Or if you are a true-blue Mac person, Appleworks is available on OSX along with open-source Microsoft compatible software for a variety of platforms.

Did you know that Internet Explorer and Netscape are just two of many browsers available? Some are free, some very expensive, each with plusses and minuses to be weighed by your needs. Among the better freebies for both Mac and PC is Firefox, Successor of Netscape and free of most of the Netscape Glitches--it is downloadable at www.firefox.com

I have the experience to recommend software that fits both your needs and your pocketbook.

Is your current software not doing what you want? Perhaps it has become corrupt or the preferences aren't set to optimize your personal needs. I can make what you already have work better! Plus! I have copies of all the most popular software on my Laptops (Pc and Mac) So you can try before you buy.

Instruction

As an educator in a school setting, as an instructor holding classes at a major corporation and as a peer-to-peer trainer, helping technicians to utilize customer service skills, while at work--I have demonstrated a patient, non-judgmental, highly empathetic instructional style that is unique to technical training. I know it is unique because I was asked to develop a curriculum to teach it to others.

Because of the casual nature of this style, I have very few appointments that are specifically for training. I prefer to give you your money's worth by teaching shortcuts and expert tricks while doing the normal 'waiting on the creeping bar' that is so much a part of computer installation and repair. We should ideally never have an encounter in which you don't learn something.

Usually even something complex like a video editing program is just a case of being walked through the basic commands and buying a book as a reference for where the controls are so you don't have to memorize it. Most programs come with this basic kind of instruction. I can 'de-nerd-ify' it for you.
